Eight from my list for the Philipines. - Daisy
It's interesting how many of the original list marked as "back active" are now again inactive. I hope that whoever mooched the books was able to offload them/send them to a deserving home/moocher.
Is this activity really worth the effort? - jacquie
woodsytheowl. Account was inactive for 51 days. I made a mooch request anyway, without any intention of seeing this as an inactive account. Someone else has cancelled through lack of response and this account is now on vacation. - jacquie
Chris Ann is back active now, and Charles Faddis (who is an author, by the way, and had multiple books on here, which I thought was cool) and carolann have been vacationed. Mooched from Stephanie. - Daisy
I actually already ordered from DJT around five days ago, so if you cancel your order to him now, I'll vacation the account in a couple of days. :-) - Daisy
Thanks Daisy. There were a couple that I had mooched but still haven't responded so I cancelled anyway.
Vacationed the following:
Andy Mack Library,
Kara,
bert Hirsch,
smr,
Diane,
Julie,
Katy - cocoGerman
CocoGerman, I was going through both of our lists and found a bunch of people that either were vacationed or became active again by themselves. I fixed the ones on my list, but I thought I'd let you know about the ones on yours. All of the following are back active:
bert hirschKaty~Asheclimberdodgerfan (has deleted inventory)
moodrunnerbjstrandejvhmama (has deleted inventory)
Mel (has deleted inventory) - Daisy
Catharine has rejected my request and put herself on vacation. I have just mooched from I'd Rather Be Reading (USA: CA) and bob breed (USA: NC). And I just noticed that Lydia, Theresa Edwards , A. L. , and Rose are already on vacation. - Daisy
I also just ordered from Catherine (USA: MO). I won't be able to work any more on the list for a while, though, unfortunately, until these ones are vacationed. - Daisy
And just so there's no confusion later on, I thought I'd better let y'all know that Loralie Bowe is actually only 124 days inactive, Janet is only 126, Michelle is only 128, dj is only 129, Toni A is only 138, Randolph is only 139, and ~A is only 158, so they might still come back on some time. :-) - Daisy
As it's an ongoing project - there may be accounts around 200 days now as I remember seeing some around 170/180 days when I compiled the original list. As my targets at the time were accounts 200 days inactive, and the list was done 3 weeks ago...
If you want to help Elaine feel free but you may want to leave it a couple of months and have a go then. - donna
Elaine / Donna, there's not really much needing done right now, I have mooched from everyone on the list at the top of the page and this will either kickstart their account if they respond, or allow me to put their accounts on vacation this weekend if they don't. - ellybabes
Hi Elaine, thanks for your offer of assistance. All the accounts that had been identified have been mooched from but seeing as the list was created a month ago there may now be more out there. The idea was to find accounts that had been inactive for a period of time, I took 200 days-ish as my guide, and mooch a book from them with the intention of renewing their interest in the site. There is always an element of danger in it, as quite often when doing the UK accounts many of us had to mooch stuff we may not have been that interested in - a kind of Russian Roulette - only with Dan Brown and Brigitte Jones instead of bullets!!! I've received a few that I had no real interest in but have re-listed them, and for the most part shifted them on (Hurray!!!)
If you want to find any accounts and mooch, feel free. You can find them by going through the browse button and selecting 'location', from there select 'people - country' and you should be able to click on Ireland and you're in - you can go through the members one-by-one. You need to leave 7 clear days plus the time difference before doing anything, even if an email bounces back (the site has an 8 hour time lag for the UK on the times it displays for the mooches). You then cancel the mooch selecting the 'did not respond' option and the account should then be 'on vacation'. It doesn't hold any penalty for the account holder as they can easily re-activate their account, but it does mean that their books shouldn't show up as available, which is very annoying to all. If you've got any more questions let me know. - donna
The following users were requested from 7 days ago and have not responded. I have cancelled their requests and their accounts are now set to vacation.
darragh
Isla
Kate
Kay Brophy
Maggie T12
Mariah
Polly

See you next weekend with an update! - ellybabes
I've finally found time to update the lists! We now just need Irish members to mooch from those set to 'ask first' as there's really nothing else that I can do. I've sent 'would you please consider sending...' requests and had one response but apart from that it's been a failure - donna
Thanks @Lynn Herron - I know what you mean. I'm lucky enough to have my mother in Northern Ireland, so I can mooch UK-only books to her, makes life easier. - ellybabes
My Country Only list:
The "mush" account has no books listed.
All other accounts in that list have been mooched from, I will come back in 7 days and see if they have been replied to or not. - ellybabes
Hiya, I'm one of the Irish angels that received your email, I will request a book from everyone on the "My country only list" above. I will let you know if any response is received. I have plenty of spare points, so there is no need for a donation.
Thank you for emailing me. I don't have time to use the forums, but I'm glad to help with any BookMooch projects as needed. - ellybabes
I've have made request of 'mush' and 'Eimear Murphy' from the My Country Only list above.
No response from the first, but a response that they're looking for the book from Eimear. So I'll see what happens on that one.
Given I really have no interest in any of the books on the other inventories, I'm going to leave it at that.
Cheers
Donogh - Donogh
Donna, I have emailed a couple of Irish angels, and if I get no response I'll try a couple more. The "ask first" people will need a domestic mooch much like the "my country only" people. Lynn, you never know, your request emails may result in reactivating the accounts. It doesn't hurt to ask! - Cara
@lynn - if they are 'ask first' then no record of your request appears on your pending page until they say 'yes' and you mooch. I was thinking of just reporting them to admin to let them decide what to do. - donna
@lynn - how are you going to vacate them? Are you going to report to admin? I've got three that I requested well over a week ago and no response from two but an acceptance from the other, which I think was good going. - donna
Lynn, Thanks for the help. I've updated the list and removed the 'strange' one. There's definitely an Irish account linked to that one somehow, just not sure how or why, but it will always show up as an inactive account when looking through the Irish members. I'm hoping that somehow we can get an Irish member to help with any that are set to my country only or don't respond to our polite requests! - donna
Robin,
I usually scan through the country list and click on any names with a high feedback number, then check how many books in pending and when they last logged in. If it looks like they are currently still a active user, I use the form letter posted in the Form Letter thread with a link to the forum and a link to the thread about the country in question. Thanks for doing that, I have been crazy busy the last few weeks. Things will slow down after this week and I can go through what has been done and what still needs to be done. - Cara
Robin,
I emailed a couple. One said that she was out of town but would get in touch when she was back. Do you want to try emailing some active moochers? - Cara
got an email today from Berber, who has reactivated. She mooched a book, and asked if I wanted the one I requested. I told her I didn't really, but i smooched her a point so she wouldn't be upset. - Robin
Accounts over 1 book, over 200 days inactive. I've sent "ask first" requests to all accounts with English books and mooched from all Worldwides with English books. I'll try to find an angel.
Silvana, thanks for your hard work. There are always some accounts that are glitchy for some reason. You can post the links to those in the glitch thread and they will get reported for the admins to look into if you wish. - Cara
I have vacationed most of the people in the Indonesian list and we're down to 21 so-called active members. There are two of them that I tried to vacation several times but failed for some unknown reasons. - Silvana
Whoops, my apology I forgot to check this thread and instead I vacationed users from A to H already.
Will now continue according to the above list. - Silvana
These are Australian accounts which are more than 200 days inactive, are set to "My Country Only" or "Ask First" and have more than a couple of books in their inventory. I'm up to the K's now. Any Australians who would like points to use to do this please email me.
Great start! We've got a couple of Australian angels working on this now. I've deleted the accounts already mooched from. If anyone wants to look for more accounts and post them feel free. I'll post some more tomorrow.
Cara I have now vacationed Molly, mimic, Matthew Patterson, Lynda N, Lisa, Leigh, Kerry, Kate07, Jeremy Thorpe, Gregg. I had mooched from a few more but when I was cancelling forgot to change to "Owner never responded" (silly me!) so of course it didn't vacation. Maybe more during the week...... - Marianne
I mooched any worldwide inactives I found in the first 22 pages of Australia (ouch, 3 points for a Babysitter club book). Hopefully those will *not* be accepted! - Cara
Here are the inactive accounts (only my country and ask first) with more than 1 book in inventory that are still left. There were lots and lots with only 1 book, but I didn't list those:
She has already helped out once, so maybe we can find another to help with the leftover members? By the list it looks like we are largely left with members with one book inventories. - Kerry
I sent this email to the next most active member I could find after the former angel. Sadly, there are not many active members in India to choose from.
Hi, I noticed that you are an active member of Bookmooch in India. I
wondered if you would be willing to help with the Inactive Accounts
Clean-up Project?
http://bookmooch.com/m/thread/inactive_accounts_cleanup_project/23
Our goal is two-fold: we hope that we can find members who may have
joined, posted a couple of books and then forgotten about the site
when they didn't get any mooches and reactivate them. Or, if the
members have lost interest in the site or changed email accounts and can no longer be reached we can vacation their accounts,
thus removing excess inventory.
We would love it if you would be willing to assist us by mooching from
some of the inactive accounts - especially those set to my country
only" - and then canceling after 7 days giving "owner did not respond"
as the reason which will place the account on vacation. One of our helpers has found and posted some inactive accounts from India which are not set to worldwide but we can't do anything about the accounts without the help of someone within the country.
Inactive Accounts from India
There is more information about the project in the forum. Thanks for
considering this! I would be happy to send you some points to use for
this if you would be interested. - Kerry
Ok, the single books worldwide and ask first for India are done. We only have the My Country Only left, but the only angel in India is not home, and not angeling now. Any suggestions? - Robin
Well, I have only ever received one response from someone gone more than 1000 days. So, I think it's a safe prospect. And, I have the points, and some of the books actually didn't sound too awful. :-) - Robin
Ok, I've been going back through the India accounts. I've decided to go ahead and bite the bullet. I'm mooching even from the single (awful) book accounts, to get it finally totally cleaned up. - Robin
Ok, I just tried to mooch from bhupendra.s.dhande (whose link doesn't work) and I think because of the bad account name, his account is completely broken. Should I send an email, or, since he's been gone 4 years, should we just report it to the admins? (If we do, will they do anything?) - Robin
I mooched from all the world wides and ask first that have books in English. I think that's the best we can do unless someone wants a book in Dutch (first account) or Japanese. - Cara
Was checking through these for "worldwide" and found an active Japan member. Emailed him (Chris) to see if he might be interested in helping us. (or maybe She?) - Robin
Checked out the 38 members in Hong Kong. With one exception, all the long-inactive accounts were either 'my country only' or 'ask first' so mooching/vacationing was not an option. My solution was to send this email to the 19 members listed below:
Hi, I'm working at a project aimed to review BookMooch inactive accounts and helping users without activity find their way around the site. You don't have to do anything, but if you are interested in participating, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. If you find Bookmooch does not meet your needs, you may prefer to simply close your account. Thanks in advance
Cara,
I sent him/her an e-mail explaining why I was cancelling and offered her a two for one on any of the business books in my inventory.
I just didn't want her to send something I was going to put directly in my inventory.
Ed - Ed Hahn
Thanks Ed, I always have mixed feelings when I get a response. I usually don't want the book, but I'm glad there is one more reactivated member. - Cara
Donna,
I took the liberty to add the links so we could easily check if they have logged in recently. Let me know if you hear from any of them. I'll try to find an angel in Hong Kong in a few days for the ones who don't respond. - Cara
