Status message: Note: I register all my books (bought or traded) at Bookcrossing. HOWEVER, not all of the books in my inventory have labels or stickers (mostly those I bought or received from Bookmooch). If the condition notes don't mention the existence of a Bookcrossing label/BCID number, then the book hasn't been labeled and will remain unlabeled, unless you request otherwise. I will mention any labels and other specifics of more heavily marked Bookcrossing books in the condition notes. On unlabeled books, I may still lightly write the BCID number in pencil somewhere, though you're welcome to ask me not to. Labeled or not, you can keep any book you receive from me in your private collection.
Shipping: I ship all my books through economy bookrate mail, so they should take around 1-2 weeks within Europe and probably up to 6 weeks for the rest of the world (the post office estimate is 20 days). I try to mail your book within the week of the request. Bio: My name is Rita, I'm 28, born and bred in sunny (though occasionally rainy) Portugal, and I am a book-o-holic. I've tried to fight this addiction but there's not many twelve-step programs for people like us and, honestly, it's stronger than me. I am a slave to the power of the printed word. Thus, I am always looking for great new books to read and I'm all too willing to share my books. It's the only way I can find space for the new ones! And to stop them whispering to me at night. Or every single waking moment too, come to think of it.
I can be a very obsessed reader at times, hence my constant late night reading sessions. I consider myself versatile in my reading choices, reading a bit of everything from fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy, science-fiction from time to time, Teen/YA fiction (a genre I'm re-discovering), a tad of chick-lit and mystery, etc. I am not very fond of romance in any of its incarnations (fantasy romance, paranormal romance, historical romance, etc.). I used to devour Harlequins when I was 12-14, but those years are long gone now, so I try to stay away from the genre. Hard Sci-Fi is also something I'm fond of in very small doses, even though I love Arthur C. Clarke and Frank Herbert.
I read a lot in English (almost exclusively in the past year or so, actually), not only because there aren’t many translations of books I want to read but also because it’s fairly cheaper to buy the original versions. Not to mention some translations actually make my teeth hurt.
Some of my favourite authors are George R.R. Martin, Patricia McKillip, Guy Gavriel Kay, Marion Zimmer Bradley, J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Austen, Frank Herbert, Robin Hobb, Anne McCaffrey, among many others. I've been discovering new authors I didn't know about and have lots of their books in my TBR piles. I’m a fan of fantasy series, though I actually prefer those that are trilogies or have an end in sight (long multi-book series make me a bit weary, since I probably have to read most of them from the beginning... I may love fantasy but I have a whole lot of its classics in the TBR still and many others in my wishlist.
I live in a non-smoking house and we have no pets aside from a couple of turtles (aptly named Michael-Angelo and Donatello, go figure). Some of my books come from other people (bookcrossing or previously bookmooched), but I'll always try to refer in the book's condition any strong smells. Still, if you're particularly sensitive or allergic, please refer that when you mooch (or email me first) so I can check the book in question.
I'm quite happy to mail to any country. I may ocasionally have to limit larger, heavier books (like hardcovers) to within Europe only or require a second mooch to help defray the costs, but if such happens, I'll mention it in the condition notes.
All my books are registered at www.bookcrossing.com. Some will contain labels on the inside of the cover or in the first page, others will only have a BCID number written somewhere at the beginning, some may not have any labels at all yet (see status) and still some may be previously bookcrossed and contain a ton of stickers all over the place. I'll let you know about those, no worries, and if you like them stickered up to high heavens, well, good for you!
You're under no obligation to journal the books if you mooch them from me, though you're always welcome to do so, even if anonymously.
Check out my Bookshelf or my Livejournal.
If you're interested in anything on my Available shelf at Bookcrossing that isn't in my inventory, send me and email and I'll list it for you.
