Status message: My home is smoke-free but assuredly not pet-free -- I live with dogs, birds, and a kitty who thinks she's a dog. I also get an awful lot of my books second-hand, from thrift shops, used bookstores, library sales, or mooched from friends, so while there's no smoking here, I can't guarantee my books have never been exposed to tobacco! If you're so sensitive that you need to try to avoid even the slightest risk of allergen exposure, you're probably safest mooching elsewhere.I try to describe any flaws in a book's condition, but if you can't judge well enough from the written description, just ask and I will gladly provide scans or digital photos as well. I will consider international shipments, depending on how painful the shipping costs are, so feel free to ask. If a book is so big and heavy that I'd prefer not to ship internationally, I'll mention that in the condition notes -- everything else is fair game. Also if a book is particularly light and thin, I'll mention in the condition notes that they're preapproved for international Moochers, no need to ask me first for confirmation. LOOKING FOR BOOKMOOCH BOOKMARKS? I try to include a few cards or bookmarks with every book I send out, but if you want more than one or two feel free to ask when you Mooch any of my books -- if I have enough on hand, I'll be happy to send extra cards/bookmarks on request. Home page: http://smillaraaq.livejournal.com/ Bio:
I'm just your everday, garden-variety nerdy off-rez mixed-blood NDN born and raised in Hawai'i, currently in suburban NoVa exile after years in downtown Philadelphia and Washington DC. Third Culture Kid? Cross-cultural? Global Nomad? Urban Skin? Just plain confused? Heck if I know. I feel like I'm just the girl next door...I'm just not too sure where "next door" is really supposed to be. If you've been poking through my inventory and trading history and think you might have or know of a book that I'd like, please feel free to drop me a note or send me a recommendation -- I'm always interested in finding new reading! I'm particularly interested in books on clothing and costume design/history; dog training and behavior; Native American/First Nations studies and authors (particularly anything dealing with the Iroquois Confederacy); pit bulls and sled dogs; Hawaiian culture, history, and language studies (and local cookbooks); and translated manga. (Minekura Kazuya, Yoshinaga Fumi, Ikeda Ryoko and Aoike Yasuko OWN MY SOUL, so for those mangaka I'll even gladly take stuff that's unavailable in English in any language you've got, just to sigh over the art!) But I read a little bit of just about everything, so recs outside of those concentrations are quite welcome, too. And yes, in case you're wondering, the userID is a Peter Høeg reference. ;)
