Forum introduction

Greetings!

After creating a specialized "computer programming" forum, I realized there would be a need for a more generalized forum for computer books and help. If you do have a more specific programming question, please refer to the other forum.

Please post any questions or comments on computer, operating system, internet and related books. If you have a specific problem you're trying to track down, hopefully we'll be able to point you in the right direction. Note, this is not meant to be a "please tell me how to fix my computer" forum (there are plenty of resources for that) but more of a resource to find a how-to book to do what you want.

Reviews on related topical books welcome.

Thanks!

Brian

I'm thinking of teaching myself GIS and was wondering if anyone has a good book/resource they could recommend.
Thanks.

I recently developed an interest in the Gopher protocol. Know of any books that discuss it?

Today is digital detox day - delete redundant websites, mailing lists and remove bookmooch fora that you do not use. The last post here was spammy - so I recommend leaving this one.

But of course I would much rather than books were mooched instead. I post here (as there was a post in the last fortnight) to ask about this - how can we deal with this spam and re-invigorate the site?

Can a book be in PDF format?
In many popular word processors, all you have to do to save an eBook as a PDF is to follow the software's steps for printing — but instead of choosing to print, select the "Save as PDF" option. This step saves your newly converted eBook as a PDF directly to your computer. Acrobat is an excellent eBook to PDF converter | landscape lighting overland park ks

Hello Brian!

It's great that you've identified a need for a specialized forum focused on computer books and help. Creating a platform where users can discuss and share information on computer-related literature, operating systems, the internet, and related topics can be incredibly valuable for enthusiasts and learners alike.

Encouraging users to post questions, comments, and book reviews can foster a community of knowledge-sharing and collaboration. It's essential to set the tone and purpose of the forum clearly, as you've done, to ensure that discussions align with the intended focus.

If you need assistance or have any specific questions about managing the forum, fostering engagement, or any related topics, feel free to ask. Best of luck with your new community! Paramount Asphalt Sealcoating

That sounds like a great initiative! A forum dedicated to computer books and resources could be incredibly valuable for both beginners and experienced users alike. It provides a space for sharing recommendations, discussing various topics, and helping each other find the right resources to solve specific problems or learn new skills. I'm sure it'll attract a community passionate about technology and eager to share their knowledge and experiences. Cincinnati SEO expert
