I've sent out probably 10 journals in the last month. Journalling seems to be just about ticking over. The list isn't being updated because there's no-one to do it.

Hi wibba, Journalling slowed right down in 2013 and I felt as if I was spending up to 6 hours each Friday checking and listing here where journals were for no response. It coincided with a time at which the farm work I do on our land increased and I am also editing for a Spanish author and writing a novel myself. So I stopped listing journals available and yours has been the first comment showing any interest in the forum!
I have to go through all the journals and either put in the name and find out who last had it, whether it is in their inventory or where it is if that is inaccurate (usually if the last but one listed recipient never actually sent it on!). Then I have to write to that person and try to recover the journal, often without response until the fourth or fifth mail, or never.
Because of this we now ask journallers to request the friendship of the Bookmooch Journal Library (bmjl) so that journallers know and agree that journals should be relisted as soon as an entry is made in them, and sent onwards within a short time of their requesting by any journaller who is also a friend of bmjl.
We have lost some nice journals that people mooched to keep for themselves. This is sad for those participating in the project.
Our previous organiser and I both made slideshows of the journals available, photographing or scanning every entry when we received journals and showing them either on the journal site or recently here on the individual journal's Bookmooch page. Completed journals should be returned to their originator. I only know of two that have made it home. :-(
Unfortunately the new slideshow site I used to make the slideshows and link here has stopped doing slides and I can't face trying to find or finance another site. As it is the previous organiser Alice, I and one of the current shelfholders Debbi, have paid the fees for the journal site to be kept up. No costs are borne by other journallers, except those incurred in posting journals on wherever requested.
If you wish to participate in the project and are not a bmjl friend, let me know or contact bmjl and either I or one of the shelfholders will send you a friendship request from the library. The shelfholders keep journals safe that have not been requested for a while or have got stuck. Each area covered by a shelf has its own BM id too.

Hi

Thanks for reply. I am interested in journalling but something has cropped up unexpectedly so I will wait to see what that entails before I opt in..hopefully it will be soon.

No problem. We'll hopefully all be here should you decide to join the BM journallers.
