Hollow Books

I've been doing some housekeeping on my book collection. I've recycled maybe 100 to 150 books in the last couple weeks. Many of those were hardcovers, which I had to disassemble in order to recycle the pages. (Around here, the covers aren't recyclable.)

This morning I came across something I bookmarked a while ago. I think the next few large-but-useless books I come across, I'll set aside for this project:

(1 year ago)I made one of these a while back. Its just big enough to fit the knife in. I have a couple large books I picked up off the free cart at the library to continue with (who's who in america type of thing). Another good kind of book for this is old software books (secrets of windows/office/linux type of thing) as they are very thick and cheap, and nobody really needs them.

(2 years ago)Maybe its time to pick up one of those books of 4 reader's digest condensed stories from the cart at the library...

(2 years ago)>LOL I couldn't do those kind of things to books I think. Well then, you won't want to read my next post.

(2 years ago)LOL I couldn't do those kind of things to books I think. If it's a good book I've got extra copies of it'll find a home eventually. Even if it's a horrid book that nobody's likely to want it'd just go to the recycling, I wouldn't want it filling up my shelves or reminding itself to me as a purse.

Book wreath

Came across this whilst looking for something else entirely.

This looks like a perfect project for someone with a book they hate, plenty of time, and above all someone to give the finished project to. The finished item looks like a dust-collecting nightmare!

Uses for books

Don't forget the Bookmooch Journal project which is for people who start their own journals to circulate and for others to contribute entries before returning to their creators (hopefully) when complete. Some of these are 'altered books' and the journal site, accessible through Bookmooch Wiki on the about tag, or directly at http://bookmoochjournals.com (that is put bookmoochjournals dot com after http and the double slash in your browser (Bookmooch helpfully converted this into a link without the actual url when written out in the journal forum!) Hope to see some of you there! Gill

A new way to desecrate knowledge

For those of you more sensitive to the disrespect of books, don't look!
