Bio:
Relocated in 2009 to southern CA after 13 years in Manhattan to care for my grandparents. I live with and care for my elderly grandfather (grandmother died at home in spring 2010). I am training to become a hospice chaplain and would love to connect with anyone else who works as a hospice volunteer, chaplain, or nurse/doctor.

My interests include herbal medicine, gardening, working with my wonderful dog Bertie (see photo) who is a trained therapy dog and visits hospice patients with me, reading very widely -- everything from Cherry Ames to the Sookie Stackhouse novels to German literature to medical history, and... --, collecting books about herbalism, Antarctic exploration, walking everywhere I can, swimming, studying Episcopal church history, and exploring California all over again. Other particular favorites are Derek Jarman and Nancy Mitford -- well, the whole Mitford Family, really. My grandparents were avid lifelong readers, and their house is over-filled with books, so in addition to going through some of my own I am also helping clear out some of their excess. I am having a lot of fun being part of the Book Mooch community, and look forward to meeting more of you! Thanks.
