If you have sent us an email and we haven't replied within a week, please do not hesitate to re-send your message.
Thank you everyone for your charitable gifts, books, and email messages!
TYPHOON UPDATE: Our library suffered some damages. The strong rains of Ondoy/Ketsana (one month's worth of rain in one day, the news said) caused huge leaks in our ceiling. We lost some tables and books to the water, but fortunately most books were saved.
Another typhoon is coming this afternoon and we have been preparing for another onslaught of rains and strong winds.
Thank you for all your emails, kindness, and prayers.
- Patti & QCPL
Please do not send us books with dark yellow/browning pages, foxing (spots), musty smell, or broken spines. If we mooch a book that is in less than very good condition, please let us know and we can cancel. Any book received that is very worn won't be of any use to us. Thank you.
International Senders: When sending us books, please declare them as GIFTS and USED BOOKS. In the customs declaration form please put the lowest value. Anything over US $40 (or its equivalent) declared in total may result in our paying a huge amount of tax for it. A note included inside the package that states that the books are gifts for the recipient and have no value will ensure that we are not charged unfairly at the customs department of the post office.
If the package doesn't need a customs declaration form, then please don't use one anymore. Thank you!
US Members: If the books you are sending us weigh too much, sometimes it is more economical to send them using the Priority Mail Flat-Rate envelope, which is about $12.95.
Local Senders: If we mooch books from you, please understand that we cannot meet up with you to claim the books. That is what the 1 point per book is for---for postage. If you think sending the books to us will cost too much, just let us know and we can cancel our request/s. If you can send, you may mail it via courier (safer choice) or post office. Please send the books to the address on the BookMooch email/pending page. If you would like to hand-deliver the books, please deliver them to the address listed and not directly to the library to avoid confusion (your books might get mixed with the other donation boxes and I might have to mark your books as 'lost' in this case).
Thank you!

Home page: http://www.qcpubliclibrary.org/ Bio:
The Quezon City Public Library - Pasong Tamo opened in April 23, 2004 in Veterans Village, Barangay Pasong Tamo. The library encourages readers of all ages to enter and read to their hearts' content. The Quezon City Public Library's role in the community is to promote community development and to support the continuous education of the residents of Quezon City. All of the library's readers live in the surrounding neighborhoods of Barangay Pasong Tamo, Barangay Holy Spirit, Barangay Balara, and Barangay Luzon.
The books you give us will be read by so many people so we hope these books that you send us will be sturdy enough to withstand the many readings and re-readings of the community.
Books needed:
- Reference Books - Philippine History, World History, Science, Art, Literature, Information and Technology, Sports, Culture, Filipiniana, and Medicine (also Health and Herbal books)
- Dictionaries (especially English-Tagalog), Thesauri, Almanacs
- Children's books - storybooks in English, Tagalog, or English-Tagalog, board books, spelling books, alphabet and counting books
- Young Adult/Teen books - Newbery Medal or Honor books, popular teen books
- General Fiction - mainstream, drama, thriller, mystery, romance, fantasy/sci-fi, chick-lit
- Cookbooks - cooking on a budget, simple recipes
- Medical and Health books
- Books on Computers, Information Technology, Web Design, New Media, Art, Design
- Arts and Crafts
- Magazines - recent editions of Good Housekeeping, National Geographic, Readers Digest, Smart Parenting, Men's Health, Star Teacher, Candy, Seventeen, W.I.T.C.H., Yes!, Yummy, etc

The books you donate will greatly help advance the education of the public school students who often come in to study. Having a wide selection of books and magazines (from reference materials to general fiction to young adult books) will provide the residents and students a "wholesome use of their leisure time in a conducive learning environment" [1]. Public elementary, high school, and college students often come in to do their homework and study after school hours. While the library already has sets of encyclopedia and reference books, these books are old editions and, therefore, outdated. The number of reference books is also limited. The library wishes to have more copies of reference books (Philippine History, World History, Science, Art, Sports, Culture, Filipiniana) so that students don't have to rush their reading on a certain book because another student is waiting in line to use it. More copies of a book means more students who can study comfortably. The library is also in need of dictionaries (especially English-Tagalog), thesauri, almanacs, and other reading materials that students can use to further their studies.
On some days children of preschool age and toddlers come in for the storytelling session told by the librarians. The library also holds puppet shows, magic shows, and spelling bees. Storybooks, board books, spelling books, alphabet and counting books, and all children's books are welcome to be donated.
The library would also like to widen the young adult and teen fiction collection. We are constantly encouraging teenagers to come in and spend a few hours in the library to read a book or two. Thanks to members who sent us young adult and popular teen fiction titles, our teen readership is growing.
The teen-agers and children are not the only ones who enjoy the library's resources. We have readers of all ages. Adults and senior citizens often go to the library to relax and read the newspaper, magazines, and our fiction and non-fiction titles.
Every book you send to us or every point you donate to us is greatly appreciated.

This account is managed by me, Patti Platon, a BookMooch member since August 3, 2007. My bio is here.
The QCPL - Pasong Tamo and I put up this account so that we can acquire more books to help the families in the areas surrounding the library. The Pasong Tamo Library is one of the smaller branches of the Quezon City Public Library, so we get very little funding for new and updated books. The books you donate to us will greatly help the families and the young students who come in to read and study.
I, Patti, handle all BookMooch transactions. I also receive the books on behalf of the library. The books we mooch from you will be sent to my home address. I live 5 minutes away from the Quezon City Public Library - Pasong Tamo and delivering the books to them is no problem.
All of the books we mooch from abroad are held at the local post office Customs Department for inspection. This usually adds a week or two to the shipping time, fyi. These packages are not delivered to us. Instead, I have to pick them up at the post office and pay a collection fee of Php 35.00 (approx. US $ 0.85) per package. That is another reason why these books are sent to me instead of to the library. If these books were to be sent directly to the library, they would have to pay every time you send them books. The librarians would also be too busy to collect the books at the Post Office. We would rather put the library's funds to other better uses than using it to pay the PO customs. We also advise that multiple mooches be sent in one package and not in separate envelopes as we are charged for each envelope.
If you have questions, comments, or recommendations regarding books and/or magazines you think we should mooch, please email us at qcptlibrary.bookmooch@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!
On behalf of the Quezon City Public Library - Pasong Tamo, Ms. Marivic Ocumen (librarian), and the Quezon City/Barangay Pasong Tamo community, thank you for all your help and support!
