Status message: I always write a condition note if there is significant wear or damage to a book, so please make sure to check that space before mooching. If there's no note, you can assume the condition is fine--that means no underlining/highlighting, no creases in the spine, no stickers, no noxious odors, etc. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions after checking the condition note. Home page: http://www.librarything.com/profile/dorothean Bio: I live in a smoke-free house with no pets [edit: now one cat, but all my books are in a place where the cat doesn't go], and I take very good care of my books. However, many of my books are second-hand. When I add a book I will always note if it has a different cover or any damage; if the condition status is blank then the book is in fine shape. I normally wrap books tightly in brown paper (reused grocery bags) and seal with packing tape. For hardbacks with dust jackets in very good condition, I'll add bubble wrap. I put very thin paperbacks in manila envelopes. These methods are all illustrated in my profile photo! (I reuse packaging when I can, but since I mooch more books to others than I receive myself, this is not often.) I send by media mail unless the package is light enough to be cheaper in first class. |
