Someone wants to mooch four books, but I only want to send two - now what?

I approved a bunch of book requests, then later found out that four of them were from the same person. I told him that I'm happy to send him any two, but would like the other two books to be available to other moochers.

His response was that the four books will "most likely end up back on BookMooch" - but I still don't want to send more than two books to one moocher.

So what should I do? I'm not sending four books to one person, but if he won't pick which two he wants, then it doesn't leave me with many options.

I want to do what's right by me and what's right by BookMooch. Is there a protocol for this situation?

The protocol is ... you've listed them therefore you send them to whoever requests them. They are within their rights to give you negative feedback and report you to admin if you refuse to send for the reason you have stated. I've always preferred to send in multiples, I still get the same points and it works out cheaper on the postage.

Aren't I within my rights to refuse to send all four books to someone? After all, there is a "REJECT -" button next to each requested book, so BookMooch does allow the option to refuse.

I've got no problem sending two books - I've done it before - but four? IMO that's just being greedy.

Really? Why wouldn't you want to send books out? You may find the other two sit here for months. No one here is being greedy by requesting books...that's what we do! Trade books. And it's so much cheaper to send all four to one address. Obviously, you and the moocher share similar taste.

Hi Robin. I do want to send books out, just not four to one person.

I don't think it's being greedy to request books - I think it's greedy to request FOUR books, and to then refuse my offer to choose any two of those four.

Whether it's cheaper to send four books together instead of separately is irrelevant to me. It's about benefiting several people instead of one person.

OzMoocher, I want to clarify something so that you don't make a mistake.

Each book is worth 1 point.
It does not matter what kind of book.
It also does not matter who mooches the book...OR multiple books.
I have send more than one book out before.
I have send two books out before.
In fact, I have send 10+ books out together -- both domestically and internationally.

When someone mooches your books, they give you ONE POINT FOR EACH BOOK, so if they've mooched 4 books, you're going to get 4 points.

That is the system BookMooch works under.

You're well within your rights to refuse any mooch. I myself have done so before.

BUT:

Make sure you have a good enough reason for doing so, because your account can be suspended or even closed for refusing to send perfectly reasonable Mooch Requests.

There are very few good reasons for refusing a Mooch Request. You lost the book, you gave it away on another Book Trading Site before you got to remove it from your inventory on BookMooch, you can't locate the book for various reasons, etc...

Refusing to send a book because you think someone is Greedy IS NOT a valid reason for refusing a request.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

Well, the BookMooch crowd has spoken, and the verdict is in: I'm in the wrong.

I'll send all four books to the one moocher.

I got mooch for a book and it shows 3 points and it is in the same country as I am. I accepted and am in process of sending, but just wondering why it cost her 3 points.

3 points vs 1 point - this can be changed if the moocher has an address in your country rather than his/her usual address overseas. So if the original mooch is made from an overseas address, three points, but if the moocher changes his/her profile to an address in your country, the mooch only costs one point.
