email notifications?

So I thought when I signed up that I read that I would get a notification in my email if someone requested a book. I am not getting notifications, and I signed on to discover that someone had requested a book 3 days earlier! I don't sign on every day, so I really would appreciate notifications. I'd rather not leave people hanging. So my question.... is there a place where I can change this setting to be sure I am getting notifications? Can't find one in my member profile. Help please! Thanks

There is an ongoing discussion of this issue in the BookMooch Discussion It seems that gmail is one of the few email providers not impacted by recent changes to how email from sources such as Bookmooch are processed.

I have the same problem: my Email provider (GMX) refuses the automatic Emails from BM because they are not configured right. I've told the BM technical support, but not gotten any help beyond "you need to take it up with your Email provider/ make sure that BM is on the approved list so Emails don't get sorted into the spam folder". Both of which don't adress the problem.

So I try to look into BM at least every second day to look if there's an open request or a book on my wishlist is moochable; and I put a note on my profile page that I don't receive the automatic emails, so please send emails directly (strangely, the emails sent via the email function do arrive).
