Email problems

Please make sure your email will accept BookMooch messages before requesting books. I had a mooch request five days ago from a new member whose intitials are ABC. I've tried every day since then to send an acceptance, but all are bounced back. I notified BM Tech Support, but as they are very busy people, I haven't heard whether they are also unable to contact this new member. So this morning I clicked on Reject and, strangely enough, since the message about why I was rejecting the request went by email, THAT message bounced back. Yes, I could send the book anyway, as the moocher's full address is on the original request, but I don't feel comfortable doing so. If anyone else has had this problem and has solutions I haven't tried, I'd be happy to hear about it.

When I have felt I needed to reject someone whose email isn't working (ie want confirmation they read condition notes) I write a note in the comment section of the rejection explaining that their email bounced back and I couldn't confirm whatever it was. That comment will appear in their history if they look to see why it was rejected. If I decide to go ahead and mail, I slip a note in the package to let them know their email bounces. It is a problem because the tech support team don't have a different email address and are equally unable to contact the member.

Thanks, Cara. I'm so computer-baclward that I'd hoped the Tech Support team had Mysterious Powers and could somehow send the new member a communication that'd punch through whatever it is that's rejecting my emails. I guess I can only hope the member might look in the rejection section, as I did detail the reason there. I also put a line at the top of my Status notes, in case he/she checked my home page after not getting any return email about the mooch request.

I did eventually hear from the new member that the email address had been revised - I don't know whether he read the line in my status notes or if the mooch-cancellation message was delivered, even though it seemed to have bounced back. The book was re-requested, I sent it, and I hope all's well now.
