Shortest by sea 2 weeks (I think it stowed away on an airplane). Longest by sea: 4 months. Really 4 MONTHS!. I nearly gave up hope on that one. The Canada Post rowboat was really floundering that time.

Longest was more than half a year, to Portugal from Germany. Fastest overseas was less than 6 days to Australia, also from Germany, both sent surface mail (book rate).

Generally surface mail from the UK to North America takes 2 - 6 weeks, and I've found that a lot of small packages end up getting sent airmail if there's any space left in the airmail bag - which is nice, considering I only paid for surface! However, surface mail to Australasia has sometimes taken 2 - 3 months and one package to the Philippines took 10 months to arrive, both of us were convinced it had gone missing and wasn't going to turn up! Generally, though, I've found that my book have all arrived in under 3 months, and most of them in about 6 weeks. Hope this helps!

Like Cara mentioned - mailing from Canada is quite the experience! I was told similar to what someone else posted - I live on the west coast - the books are sorted and sent to East coast - when a container is filled - out it goes. I have had books arrive to their destination in 2 weeks - I also suspect they snuck on an airplane. It seems to take anywhere from 4 to 7 months to get to Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia or Africa. My longest one to arrive was 7 months to Malaysia and the moocher actually had marked it lost - and then it arrived. Most books going to UK, or most places in Europe - take minimally 6 to 8 weeks or longer. Conversely - I received a book from Australia - 11 months after it was posted and I had marked it lost as well!

Had a book today coming from New Zealand to France, economy postage, in just 16 days. Quite faster than expected :)

From Australia to the US, 4 months. Fastest from the US doesn't count, as the USPS stopped using surface mail for overseas packages a while ago. Although for anyone interested, I had a package make it from the US to the UK in under 5 business days.

I'm an antique and jewelry dealer and ship frequently overseas. Longest that pops into mind was a necklace to Italy that took 5 months and 2 weeks. It was sent priority and it took 6 days to hit Italian customs so I guess the person who "borrowed" it got tired of wearing it and sent it on its way. Had a book sent first class international to St. John in Nova Scotia (less than a 4 hour drive from my home) take 5 weeks and it arrived with Montana and Texas post marks - it took the scenic route. The shortest time was 4 days to British Columbia when exactly identical packages to the East Coast from Maine USA took 5 days. The post office works in mysterious ways!

Had a book hit Canada from France in mere days (6 days from request to received), was pretty surprised. Delays to Northern America so far have been in the area of 15-20 days typically, with the slowest taking 2 months.
