A question for discussion: One of the forums here is "A Book Search Among Friends" where people can ask about a book they are trying to find and presumably others will post and reserve the book for them. How does this differ from someone adding a book, noticing that a good mooching buddy has it on their wishlist and reserving it for them?

This came to mind because someone was asking in the Newbie forum asking about how to reserve a book for a friend who had it on their wishlist and then quickly wrote a "never mind" message indicating she had read that this was frowned upon.
