Interview with the Vampire

I saw this movie when I was about 13 and really loved it. Usually you read a book first, then see the movie, but this movie helped me discover a love of Anne Rice. I would save my allowance and buy one of her books every few weeks. Interview with the vampire as a movie was very well done, with Kirstin Dunst as an amazing Claudia. Even though she was much older than Claudia in the book, i feel that she brought the character nicely through the innocence of childhood into womanhood. Brad Pitt as Louis was heartbreaking at times in his internal conflict and Tom Cruise as Lestat brought a great aristocratic flair. Even though a few elements were removed such as Lestat's father living with him, and the death of Louis's brother, all in all it doesnt stray far from the book. Having the author write the screenplay doesnt hurt either
