Rachael Ray TV Segment on BM

We've been talking to the Rachael Ray TV show for a few months, as they wanted to do a segment on BookMooch.

If you are curious and have a TV nearby, the producers have told me that the BookMooch segment will air on January 25.

I don't know how long the segment will be, but they did ask me to sign some paperwork allowing them to use our graphics, and the producers have been regularly sending me email, so I have hopes that it's more than 10 seconds long.

Reading Rachael Ray Wikipedia page, I was delighted to see that she's quite the fun wordsmith:

On her television programs, she has used catch phrases such as "EVOO" (extra-virgin olive oil), "yum-o," "G.B." (garbage bowl), "Oh my gravy!", "entréetizer" (entrée-sized appetizer), "stoup" (cross between a soup and stew), and "choup."In 2007, The Oxford American College Dictionary announced the addition of the term EVOO, short for extra-virgin olive oil, which Ray had helped to popularize, and credited her with coining the phrase.

Fun tidbit: apparently Rachael Ray is the 14th most powerful person in the food industry.

I don't have cable tv at home, and won't be able to watch this, so if someone can upload the segment to youtube, that'd be great.

I looked at the message from the "Segment Coordinator" at "Rachael Ray" and she doesn't say which show it is.

Email from the show's coordinator:
I wanted to let you know we have an airdate for the segment in which we featured Book Mooch. It will be next Tuesday, January 25. Please note, we are not able to give out copies of the show, so just be sure to DVR it or tune in if you would like to see it. And please let me know when you get this email so I know you’re aware of the date. Thanks for everything!

If the show is listed as "Rachael Ray," it is referring to her daily talk show. Her other shows are entitled "30 Minute Meals," "Tasty Travels," and "Rachel Ray's Week In A Day." Here is the link to information on Tuesday's show: http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/view/1186/

Thanks Kari- I wasn't sure if her other cable shows had names other than her own-
So then there is a high possibility it will be on broadcast TV! :)

In the Boston area, on Tuesday Jan 25 the Rachael Ray show is on CBS (channel 4) at 9:00-10:00 am. The DirectTV description of this episode is "Getting prescriptions and books free of charge; supertasters".

BookMooch got a brief discussion and a couple of screenshots in the "Get Stuff For Free" segment. Good news, they got the site name right. Bad news, twice they said "Send 1 book, and you'll get 2 books from your list". Not sure where they got this idea, unless they are thinking of the extra points for sending internationally (there was no mention of the international features). All publicity is good publicity...

I watched the spot on Racheal Ray today & found your site. I joined right away but only added 3 books because I really love the ones I have and deciding to part with them isn't easy. There are so many I wish I had. At one time I had collected a pretty good library but due to unfortunate circumstances I lost them all, even my rare books. Some over 100 yrs old. I know I will not be able to collect books as I did in the past but I still love to read & hope that this site will afford me that opportunity. thank you for making amost pleasurable past time affordable even for those of us that can't afford to spend large amounts of money on it. Welcome to the site Texanora :)

Many members here have purchased books at library sales and such in order to list and get more points. The trick is to know what books are wishlisted and which books have a lot of copies in the system already. You can also see if any of your friends have books they were going to donate to a thrift store, maybe they will give them to you instead.

Hello Bookmooch world! I saw the Rachael Ray spot and joined immediately. Already have sent 5, 3 internationally, and have mooched 2. Love the site. Thanks for being here!

Welcome to BookMooch, Texanora and Farrah!

So glad you could join us! If you like what's going on here, please spread the word to your friends and family members. More people jumping on the book bandwagon means more stuff for all of us.

Happy Book Hunting!
