| (3 months, 25 days ago) | I come across many interesting Aussie titles. I'll post a list at a later date.
It would be great to see ABC's First Tuesday Book Club publish a list of all the books that were suggested for Best Australian Novel, I bet there'd be some great suggestions in there. Also there'd be lots of great titles on Premier's Book Prize lists, plus Miles Franklin Award and other such prizes.
FWIW I voted for two books published by Sybilla Press in the late 80's 'Gap in the Records' by Jan McKemmish and 'Working Hot' by Mary Fallon, both post modern and feminist, plus 'Watcher on the Cast Iron Balcony' by Hal Porter.
There is so much around (if out of print). There are great anthologies and plenty of non-fiction also.
I was just looking at what's on my bookshelf, what's "to read" and what I've already read.
'Annie's Coming Out' by Annie McDonald is on my to read list.

Thanks again Isabel
- issy05 | | (11 months, 23 days ago) | Hi Issy,
I find 'Library Thing' and 'GoodReads' a great source of book recommendations.....in fact they can sometimes be too good and as a result my TBR pile keeps getting bigger and bigger, LOL!.
I find them both good for recommending books in a 'if you like this book, then you might like this book' kind of way.....which it sounds like you are after.
I'm sure there are plenty of other websites that do something similar, these are just two that I use.
Hope you find it useful, and good luck :)

| (8 months, 28 days ago) | I'm not in Australia or the US but deal with books in a wide variety of languages (Welsh, Tagalog, Hungarian, French, German, Dutch, Latin etc..) and find it easier to look up ISBN and ASINs on Goodreads (or Librarything may also help) and then put the ISBN into BM. If it is not listed on any Amazon anywhere it will still not show up, as that is the data base BM use.
The solution then is to add it to your inventory manually, copy and paste the number to a text document and immediately remove it from your inventory. Then the listing is registered on Bookmooch and you should be able to list or wishlist under the number it has assigned to the book, by copying and pasting it into the browse feature. If your settings allow for "related books" the title should then show if someone adds a copy.
I tried adding it under the number you gave first, but that does not work. It looks to me as if there is a mistake in the original number as it should have had either 10 or 13 digits and had 14.
I've just done that and the number now assigned to it is BM1345882692465121081
(I added it under my personal account tennantfamily UK and my journal library bmjl - so both of those are not real entries and have been removed!)
Hope that helps you!

by Kathy Helidoniotis
ISBN 97807322900097
It's Term 3 at Linley, and Ashleigh demonstrates a natural ability for teaching the younger girls. When Claire Carlson, her impossible room-mate, reveals an amazing artistic talent, the two girls connect for the first time. Meanwhile, Ash is introduced to endurance riding and falls head over tail in love with the sport, competing for Linley with her beloved mare Honey. Emily is finally allowed to take formal riding lessons at Linley and she, Ash and Ricki take on India and her posse at the end-of-term funkhana.
Back in Shady Creek, Becky has lost the fight to save the Riding Club, and she and Ash are heartbroken as they stand by and watch as Gary′s office is bulldozed. But the club is miraculously saved by Mrs Mac, who offers them a new home at Shady Trails. Shady Creek Riding Club will live forever.
Ash comes to realise that changes, while sometimes unexpected and unwelcome, can often help us to grow.
- hawkrave | | (1 year ago) | I've found information about this title on the Harper Collins publishers site but the ISBN isn't coming up on Amazon. Not sure how to help unless you hand enter the details for your wishlist.

- Kim D | | (12 months, 5 days ago) | Hi again Kim,
If you are still wondering about how to create a new forum message on the Aussie Moochers forum.....on the main 'Australian Moochers' forum page there is a drop down menu on top right of screen, click on 'write new message', enter your subject heading, and then the message.
Hope that helps :)
HeyJupiter. (again, LOL!)
- HeyJupiter. | | (12 months, 5 days ago) | Hi Kim,
To change your status to 'Ask First'.....on your member home page click on 'account', then 'profile', and towards the bottom, just before the red security code you should see a drop down menu titled 'I am willing to send books to' and that's where you can select 'ask first'. Then just save your profile.
Hope that helps :)
HeyJupiter.
- HeyJupiter. | | (12 months, 5 days ago) | Hi, Kim in Melbourne, Victoria here.
I just posted two books to the US and the cost has gone up heaps, so I want to change my OS mooch settings to "Ask first" but I can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone help?
I'd post this as a separate topic but I haven't figured out how to do that either ; ).
Happy Mooching.
- Kim D | | (1 year ago) | I just wrote to Jessie at http://jesscreadsbooks.wordpress.com/ who I became acquaintanced with a couple of years ago and will try and follow the blog links from there. I think if we can get the word out on a few book related blogs like hers it might get the ball rolling. Blogs are a great for getting the word out, once an idea rolls it can really snowball. I'll give it a try!
Hey and thanks for the GoodReads link. Looks like a great site, I just signed up :)
- luciaa | | (1 year ago) | Hi
Yeah I've noticed the same thing lately. That things are getting a bit slow on the Aussie side. Maybe because you can no longer filter recently added to Australia. I started a forum here for aussies to post their recently added books.
I liked your ideas about spreading the word through blogs etc. I'm a member of Goodreads.com so I might put something on the aussie forum there.
- Melissa | | (1 year ago) | Hello Aussie Moochers!
Is this thread stilly going? I have been using Book Mooch for some time now but have been a wee bit disappointed by how slow things have been. I don't really want to trade internationally because I want to keep my ecological footprint down. But the Australian inventory seems to be really low, I mainly just get Mooch mails from the US. I'm guessing the site is not that well know down under, I was thinking maybe of approaching some book blogs and shops and spreading the word?? Anyone have any thoughts on this, or some advice for me on how I can improve my mooching technique? :)
Thank you!
PS. Pat I tried contacting Book Mooch too and got no response either. I tried asking them how I change my settings so that I only get emails about Australian mooches. Seems they are too busy to reply to our queries.

Bookmooch Journalling
Hello! Come join the Bookmooch Journal Project, a traveling art journals project! This is something that has been going for some time now, complete with its own blog and a hosting system to track the journals! We’re always looking for more Bookmooch members to join us and help make the project more exciting. It is based on the general Bookmooch concept of getting books you want and sending books you don’t, but rather than mooching just books you may use your points to mooch traveling art and other journals. A Bookmooch journal is a book that someone has created and then sent out to other users to make an entry of one or a few pages. When you get one, you have two weeks to add your contribution and relist as one of the books in your inventory on Bookmooch. Then someone else can mooch it form you and when it is completed it will be sent back to the original creator. You can also make your own new journal and have other people make entries! Search for journals using this keyword: BMJournal Come join the journey. Thanks for participating from the folks at the Bookmooch Journal Project (http://bookmoochjournals.com/about/) and the Bookmooch Journal Library Charity ( bio:bmjl)

Hi, I just joined yesterday. I live in Adelaide and read historical fiction, travel literature, biographies/memoirs, and the occasional easy read like an Anita Shreve or a Jodi Piccoult.

Peter Corris books
Sorry to crash your forum folks, but I wanted to ask and this seemed as good a place as any... I have a number of Peter Corris titles waitlisted and I am wondering if any of you have some copies lying around that you didn't know other folks wanted? Or if someone would be willing to check a used bookstore for cheap, readable copies for a US fan? Thanks for listening and sorry for the interruption.
