Sam, a 40-something novelist, grappling with the back-to-back loss of his mother, his beloved wife to a car accident and his father disappearing to Alzheimer’s, meets his new neighbor, Samantha, a pot-smoking, lonely and cynical teenager. They form an unlikely friendship over their mutual love for underground rock music, the unknown history of rock music and musicians that Sam imparts to Samantha, and eventually opening up to each other about their life stories.
