Description: Preface: The teme of Romani is the Roman character as seen at various stages of its development. This theme is illustrated by a series of extracts, nearly all of which are concerned with action rather than with theory or ideas and are therefore more likely to appeal to the youthful reader. A few pieces of simple poetry are appended together with a group of stories useful for purposes of revision.
The book is planned as a sequel to Latinum and Roma. A knowledge of the syntactical rules, which have been covered by those books, is here assumed; and words, which were there listed for memorization, are omitted from the vocabularies given at the foot of these pages.
The difficulty of the pieces is carefully graduated. As new constructions are in due order introduced, explanations of these are given (together with exercises in their use) at the end of the book.
Romani should be found appropriate to the stage preceding the Certificate year, ie. before pupils are ready to tackle continuous and unsimplified texts.
