Description: Product Description
A dystopian thriller follows a boy and girl on the run from a town where all thoughts can be heard — and the passage to manhood embodies a horrible secret.

Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony, he knows that the town is hiding something from him — something so awful Todd is forced to flee with only his dog, whose simple, loyal voice he hears too. With hostile men from the town in pursuit, the two stumble upon a strange and eerily silent creature: a girl. Who is she? Why wasn't she killed by the germ like all the females on New World? Propelled by Todd's gritty narration, readers are in for a white-knuckle journey in which a boy on the cusp of manhood must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.
Reviews: samharnold (United Kingdom) (2013/05/19):
There are two types of trilogies. Those that truly are a trilogy you can read all three, not necessarily in order. Although there are three books there is enough stand alone story to let them stand on there own. Such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Justin Cronin, The Passage books. Then there are those that are a trilogy because the author couldn't make a short enough book. An example of this would be the 50 shades trilogy and these books.

Now the second type of trilogy annoy me. You invest time and effort into reading the book and you are not even rewarded with an ending to the story. Having in places struggled through sections of this book I felt that the writing had enough to make me want to get to the last page. Having got to the last page I was left disappointed and annoyed that the story did not finish and I would be expected to buy another two books to get the ending I deserved.

The writing is not good enough to make me want to read on. I now have just wasted my time reading a book with no ending. This book was given away for world books day and a cynic would say that the author only agreed to this to guarantee selling more of his other books. If you want to commit to reading three books to get a fully conclusion to your story then you may want to invest in these books. If not then move on down the bookstore and pick another.
