Sheranne (Germany) (2007/09/02): Sasha Jansen is back in Paris, where she has been her happiest and also her most desperate. A friend has rescued her from the dismal room in London where she has been trying to drink herself to death. Now her past lies in wait for her in cafes, bars and dress shops and comes to life again as vividly for the reader as it does for her. But the past is not all. Sasha doesn't trust the future but she must move into it. She is picked up in the Dome by a young man who, perhaps, mistakes her for a rich woman (she still has her fur coat) and she begins dizzily to feel that she is still alive. Few encounters in fiction have benn more brilliantly conceived and few have to a more unforgettable end.
