It wasn't to my liking. Again, women are portrayed as weak (mentally weak, that is) and secondary to their male partners. The police are corrupt, yet try to seem portrayed in the romantic sense of 'always do right' (which we know is a fallacy). Many people, including myself, see the romance in here as contrived. It's like the Brady Bunch (teen kid sure doesn't seem to mind her father wanting to remarry). Also, the judicial system is romanticized here also. Very bad. I would like to note one thing that grates my nerves: This was printed in 1999 and the witch-hunt machine was being portrayed as an accurate way to find out if someone's lying. In this book the machine 'absolutely clears' people if they 'pass'. Holy cow, the author is living in la-la land. Anyway, terrible book.
