Product Description
Moon Gazing or Tsukimi, was introduced from China and spread through Japan in the Heian period (794-1192) as the custom to appreciate the full moon in mid-September, according to the lunar calendar. Writing haibun is a descriptive combination of prose and haiku poetry. A mirror image of 'our' regular world. The haibun focus is on everyday experiences, reflecting fragmented thoughts. Sometimes short-sighted, shallow and corny but just as much with clever phrases and lucid quotes. Most often [but not necessarily] it is written in the present tense with a multiplicity of ideas: from snake pit and hot birds to fairground attractions, tattoos and young bamboo shoots.
