samharnold (United Kingdom) (2010/08/18): This is a thoroughly enjoyable book which is written as a quick punchy novel as the author quite clearly remembered the events in his life. I must admit I have since read the criticism that this book was not all fact and some fiction and I can see why this maybe a suggestion.
The only criticism I have is more of the character of the author rather than the book. I found myself at the end of this wondering why this individual was not happy and settle down either in Georgetown of with the Indians. The author talks about the kindness of the people he meets on his adventure but never once mentions those that he used and the left.
Thoroughly good read and I will certainly be reading the next in the edition Branco if only to see whether the author revisits the people he leaves behind.
