Fort Laramie- Playing Indian starring Raymond Burr: Movie and TV star Raymond Burr was tapped to play Lee Quince, captain of cavalry at the now famous Fort Laramie, on the Wyoming frontier. Fort Laramie was a monument to ordinary me who lived in extraordinary times. Ironically, the enemies of the men of Fort Laramie were not the Indians but the rugged, uncharted country, the heat, the cold, and disease. In all the years that the cavalry was stationed at Fort Laramie, only four troopers died of gunshot wounds. Gunsmoke producer Norman MacDonnell helmed the series, which came to radio in 1956 and lasted only 40 shows mainly due to the pressures of TV. Frontier Town- Return to Dos Rios starring Jeff Tex Chandler Rising young radio and TV star Jeff Chandler under the pseudonym of Tex Chandler tried his hand at this radio western which premiered in 1952. Chandler played Chad Remington, a two fisted lawyer in the town of Dos Rios. For some strange reason Chads sidekick, Cherokee OBannon (played by Wade Crosby) read his lines in a W.C.Fields dialect. Chandler remained in the lead role for the first 23 shows and was replaced by Reed Hadley until the end of the series.
