Amazon.com Review
Unlike most of the books in its series, MCSD Exam Cram: Microsoft Visual Basic 5 seems to focus on tutorial-like explanations as well as on quizzing the reader on exam material. Though the book's coverage is limited to the Visual Basic 5 (VB5) facts and procedures that are likely to appear on the exam, you could use this book as a general VB5 tutorial.
MCSD Exam Cram: Microsoft Visual Basic 5 pays attention to all the key material: variables, data types, operators, libraries, and the rest of low-level VB. The mechanics of working with Windows programs are covered well, and the authors do a fine job of explaining ActiveX tools and how to create them. All of these topics are set within the framework of what appears on the exam. The excellent question-and-answer sections of this book should prove quite useful to anyone preparing for the VB5 elective exam on short notice.
