Product Description
What should have been a romantic morning-after turns sour when P.I. Fran Kirk gets two calls about the same dead body. Called out to a natural foods farm in Wyoming County, east of Buffalo, Fran's job is to discover whether the apparent accidental death of a farmhand is really accidental. Fran works for the insurance company carrying Hickory Hills insurance, and they don't want to pay up if they don't have to. Before she can sign off on the case, Fran discovers that the granddaughter of the farm's founders is missing, and Fran is asked to find her. But someone doesn't want her sticking her nose into the affairs of the farm. A fire, vandalism and another death, not to mention shots in the dark that come much too close, drive Fran deeper into the entanglements of the farm family. On the trail of the missing teenager, Fran heads for Pennsylvania Dutch country, where danger still pursues her and she runs for her life in alien territory. The only thing non-toxic about this case is the organic food that abounds in every kitchen. When Fran finally confronts the murderer, she loses the upper hand and she can almost see the grim reaper. Second in the P. I. Fran Kirk mystery series.
