Antony is in Egypt, bewitched by the enigmatic Cleopatra, and Caesar wants him to come home. Antony goes to Rome and marries Caesar's sister; Cleopatra is outraged at this betrayal, but Antony claims the marriage is political. Tensions rise between the powers in Rome, and when a daring attack against Caesar's forces fails, and Antony is killed, Cleopatra faces bondage and mockery as a trophy of war.
