Good read - book 3 of the Horde Wars. As usual, great action sequences with great characters. The Shikar hero, Edge, occasionally made me want to rip the arrogance off him but you've got to love a blade master with his skills. Emily, the human heroine, is a NY cop with a mission to save the world. These two don't burn up the sheets although they occasionally shred them...when they actually make it to a bed, of course.After she meets up with the Daemons she knows there are worse things than drug dealers and pimps haunting her streets... Emily willingly joins the Shikar but can never be as fast or powerful as Shikar team she fights with. Even though two of them are converted humans, she is told she cannot be converted as she has no psychic powers. But what if they are wrong? As usual, the author managed to produce a page-turning plot, characters you actually care about, but the usual satisfactory ending was a little weak. Emily and Edge are nicely resolved but 'climactic' battle seemed a bit short-changed. Lots of intriguing threads and characters left for more stories... There is an ongoing story arc; read them in order.
