Reviews: Marianne (Australia) (2013/04/12):
A Sea Change is a novella by English author Veronica Henry and is part of the Quickreads series of books. Fans of Veronica Henry’s books will be pleased to return to Henry’s favourite seaside spot in Devon, Everdene, even if it is only for one day. After a tough few months in his police job, Craig is looking forward to a weekend of surfing and unwinding at the beach hut in Everdene: he has a bit of thinking to do about his future. Jenna sells ice cream at the kiosk on the harbour at Tawcombe. That is, until her boss gives her some bad news. Suddenly her future is looking decidedly less stable. Jenna’s first, fleeting encounter with Craig involves a spilt cup of tea, but she’s immediately struck by his good looks; Craig thinks she’s really pretty, too. Their second encounter is definitely less auspicious, and has each of them considering the current state of their lives. Even in a novella, Henry manages to develop her characters, take her readers to the seaside and give them a plot that is not wholly predictable. An excellent taste of Henry.
