Excerpt: Luke Schenn (born November 2, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). Schenn played his junior hockey with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. He was selected in the first round (5th overall) by the Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Schenn started his professional career in the NHL during the 2008-09 season. He has also represented Canada internationally, winning a gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and a silver medal at the 2009 World Ice Hockey Championships. His younger brother Brayden was drafted 5th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. Schenn played minor hockey in his hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. His first minor hockey team was the Saskatoon Red Wings, where he was coached by his father, Jeff. In 2004-05, he played 'AAA' Midget Hockey for the Saskatoon Contacts, winning the Telus Cup as Canada's national midget hockey champions.
