Book Reminds Readers of God s Original Plan

One need only look around at the world today, wrought with ethnic, national, political, and religious hatred and strife, to see that mankind has moved away from God s original plan for the human race. Author and minister Nia Redmon explores the events that led up to this movement away from God s sovereign design in her new book Rediscovering God s Plan for Mankind: For I Know the Plans I Have for You (Jeremiah 29:11).

This unique book links specific events in world and church histories, and their impact on the formulation of Christianity as it exists today.

The author, who describes this book as the byproduct of more than 20 years of prayer, revelation, research, and life experience, explains that the title, Rediscovering God s Plan for Mankind, is derived from Jeremiah 29:11, in which the Word of the Lord came to the prophet, Jeremiah, and was relayed to the Israelites who had been captured and deported to Babylon. The people were instructed to build houses, plant gardens, and pray for the peace of the city, because it would be their home for a while. God loved them, but according to His plan, the Israelites were to be exiled in Babylon for 70 years.

Although this appeared to be a negative situation, it was indeed God s plan. The plan was a good one, Redmon explains, because God has a purpose for everything. In the book, she explores the plans and purposes of God for all of mankind. Everyone, she believes, needs to know there is a purpose for their lives. But, she adds, In the excitement of embracing our purpose for life, we ve disregarded the purpose of God.

Unlike many feel-good religious texts, this work does not coddle readers with false promises; rather, it delves deeply into the Scriptures. World and biblical history is examined, along with its correlation to God s plans. Many times we tend to limit the scope of God s dealings with mankind to our view of Western civilization, says Redmon. We forget that the geographical setting for the Scriptures took place, for the most part, in what is now known as The Middle East. Our modern and Europeanized culture unconsciously causes us to limit our perception of God and His global and eternal plan.

In the book, Redmon explains that the reader should not be consumed with thoughts about which church building to attend or which denomination to join. Instead, she urges people to ask themselves how they are living, and whether they are following the traditions and doctrines men have ordained, or if they are obeying God s Word.
