Description: Product Description
Bringing Chicago circa 1893 to vivid life. A book that intertwines the true tale of two men - the brilliant architect behind the legendary 1893 World's Fair, striving to secure America's place in the world: and the cunning serial killer who used the fair to lure his victims to their death.
Reviews: alice ttlg (USA: TX) (2007/10/22):
Not quite as good as his earlier book, Isaac's Storm about the 1900 hurricane in Galveston, TX but still very interesting, lots of detail about the time period, people's lives, working conditions, politics (mainly local/city) paralleled neatly with H.H. Holmes and his basement of horrors.

tony picco (USA: NY) (2009/01/25):
I have not read Isaac's Storm, but this book is a fascinating blend of history, cause & effect in society, and the personal lives of certain key players. It really tells the birth of Chicago as a major player in the world of big cities...
