Description: Product Description
Her name was Stella, living in an orphanage in Hincesti. Forced out of the orphanage to live on her own at sixteen, she suffered brutality, forced to sell her body to survive until finally succumbing to AIDS. Described as the "engine of the sex industry," Moldova sentences more "Stellas" every June when the girls are forced out of the orphanages all over Moldova to become victims in slave traffic.
In Stella's Sisters read the testimonies of five girls who found light in that pit of darkness, being saved from a hopeless existence by a man and his ministry, Philip Cameron and Stella's House.
From the Introduction:
For eleven years, I diligently told everyone I knew that two children were plenty in this day and age. My wife Chrissie and I watched Philip and Melody Joy grow up together, and our little family was truly complete, or so we thought. Then came a trip to an orphanage in Romania, and we adopted our precious Andrew. A little over a year later, we experienced the most wonderful surprise of our lives when beautiful Lauren Anne was born.
I'm thrilled to tell you, though, that our little family just seems to keep on growing. The kids you'll read about in this book, and many others with them, have been inextricably knit to our hearts in ways I still don't understand. I know God loves them and never stopped caring for them, and somehow He put them in our hearts so that we would feel just a little of what He feels for them. When we met them, they were lost little souls, with not a single flicker of real hope within them. But that was not the end of the story, and the hope that flows today in a place called Stella's House is as astonishing as it is palpable.
Touched by the lives of five of these extraordinary girls, Nancy Silvers helped me tell their stories with incredible skill and sensitivity. My friend and colleague of thirty-five years, Brian Paterson, also helped me put on paper a little of the amazing journey that took us to the orphanages of Romania and Moldova and to the miracle of Stella's House. I'd like to offer them both my sincere gratitude.
I mentioned the word miracle, and I know it's a word that gets overused, but as you read on, I trust you'll agree its usage is entirely appropriate here. And so I'd like to thank the God of miracles for all the wondrous ones He has given us on our way.
