PattiM (USA: VA) (2018/10/24): This is a lovely cookbook, full of Southern history about where the recipes were used, and by whom. For example: "Southerners take their delicious Sally Lunn bread and its variations for granted, perhaps forgetting there really was a Sally Lunn. In the seventeenth century, she was a baker in Bath [ along the James River in Virginia] and "cried" her wares in the streets of the fashionable spa. Her home still stands in the town and houses a tea room and a charming gift shop." The cookbook contains 137 pages of recipes, along with color and black/white photos, and pen drawings of some of the old mansions, along with a lot of interesting history behind the recipes.
