This is definitely worth your time. It's the only book I've read be Edward Lee, and for a first impression, it was surly satisfying as well as terrifying. A teenage girl in the throws of depression after her sister's suicide moves to a strange old house in the country with her father, who thinks a change of environment is what his daughter needs. It would seem like he would be right, save for the gateway to hell in the attic.
