Christine (USA: IL) (2008/05/06): This was a superb book; one of the best I have ever read. The novel is told from several different points of view, and none of the narrators is 100% reliable. It seems everyone in the novel is trying to be someone better, both in their own mind and in the eyes of others, and the reader's impressions of the characters is constantly shifting. There is so much going on, and so much misinformation, that it is impossible to have a complete understanding of any character's motivations until the very end, and yet the storyline is straightforward enough that it's never confusing. There is also a ton of detail in the novel, particularly in the Egyptian expedition storyline, and watching the unveiling of the tomb is like piecing together a puzzle. All the little details come together in the end to create something totally unexpected, and yet beautiful and very revealing. I highly recommend this book.
