Michael Warren is a Modern English London based Artist who has been drawing and painting contemporary London life for the past twenty years. He has had a number of one-man shows and has contributed to many mixed exhibitions including The Royal Academy; The Singer and Freidlander (The Sunday Times Water Colour Exhibition); and The Royal Water Colours Society Exhibition. Michael Warren studied initially at Sidcup and then at Goldsmiths and at the St. Martin's School of Art. He spent over 3 years drawing and painting The Household Cavalry Division at Knightsbridge Barracks. As a British artist of 20th century he exhibited a series of watercolours of the soldiers and their horses at their daily activities and ceremonial duties at the Montpelier Studio in both 1983 and 1986. Michael was the official British artist, employed by London's world famous landmark, the Battersea Power Station to cover the start of demolition from 1988 to 1990, where he collated a commissioned work collection of drawings and paintings which will shortly be published in book form to coincide with the regeneration of the old power station area. Since the early 1990's, Michael has been devoting an increasing amount of time to working in oils. His work is figurative with an emphasis on the urban landscape. He shows how people living in a large city physically exist in close proximity and yet manage to remain somehow separate from one another. He has received many prestigious corporate and private commissions as one of the most famous British artists, including the official commission from the Household Cavalry to paint the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of York in 1985, and his painting entitled 'Regeneration of the City', was officially presented by Battersea Power Station to the then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher.
