SOme of the most intriguing insights ever into the takeover of the great "empty" western part of the continent. The women's personal stories, their reactions to the locals, and the tests of their spirit and stamina are quite different from the readings generated by men. An excellent piece, chock full of "on the spot" reports of how the expansion from the east was accomplished.
