Description: Product Description
This volume about the working class Beaumonts of West Riding, Yorkshire, England, chronicles the lives of the Beaumont families of Wooldale and Holmfirth. These families are descended from four sons of Abraham Beaumont of Upper Longley and his wife, Ann Roebuck. Thomas, Joshua, John and Abraham Beaumont were all born in the mid-1600s. The majority of the book is divided between descendants of Joshua Beaumont of Scholes, descendants of John Beaumont of Longley, and descendants of Abraham Beaumont of Longley. Each chapter begins with a family group comprised of father, mother, their individual vital statistics, marriage information, and children, and shows how the group fits together into the larger family tree. Sequentially, beginning with the oldest child of each generation, the line is followed to its end before returning to the next oldest child, following to the end of that line, and so on. The present day Beaumonts have gathered what data exists from the Kirkburton Parish register, other church records, and censuses in order to give new life to this almost forgotten line of English ancestors. Extensive footnotes provide source documentation. A list of abbreviations and a bibliography enhance the text.
