New Zealand director/screenwriter Jane Campion and Canadian novelist Kate Pullinger collaborated on this novelization of Campion's award-winning film 'The Piano,' a beautiful story about one stubborn and passionate woman's stormy love affairs with men, her own willpower and, of course, her piano. Lifting entire lines of dialogue from the film and fleshing out the background to all of the main characters (including the events that caused the pre-Victorian protagonist to raise an illegitimate daughter in dour Scotland and lush colonial New Zealand), this slim volume should be a satisfying read for anyone who has seen and loved the movie.
