Ever since his mother and sister moved away, thirteen-year-old Casey has had to cook, clean, and look after his father when he's "sick." Every night Casey wonders how things will be when his dad gets home. When things are bad, Casey can't help blaming himself. Casey believes his dad is just going through a hard time, that he'll get better soon. Then comes a phone call from his aunt. She knows what's going on and wants to help, and there's something they can do - if Casey will participate.
