I loved this book. I can't wait to read the next one. These two young girls trying to keep a plantation after the Civil War is over. Both of them used each others strengths to make it from day to day. One was born a slave and one a daughter of a rich plantation owner. Both witnessed the murder of their parents and all of the slaves on both plantations.
It was their destny to meet each other.
All through this story you tend to forget how young these girs are. So many young people had to grow up fast during and after the war between the states.
I can't wait to see if their plan, to fool everyone into thinking that the young plantation owners daughter is still alive and that the two girls are not alone, works.
I think that anyone would love this story. A story of strength, love, friendship and coming of age in a terrifying time.
I would rate this book 5 stars. The best.
