I tried this book after reading The Secret History by the same author (which, by the way, is fabulous, i won't be giving away my copy of that) but was disappointed because I couldn't get into it. Tartt is a great writer though so whilst it didn't work for me, I've heard great reviews from other people about this book. Worth a try I say.

If you didn't like 'The Secret History' (I didn't!) then try this. Best described as literary American Southern Gothic. I couldn't put it down and at times it's definitely v. frightening.
