Description: Product Description
Without thinking, my hand moved on to my stomach. It didn't feel any different. But was that because I didn't want it to? Was it just a big bigger? Rounder? Megan is fifteen. One day she finds out in the worst possible way, the worst possible news - she is pregnant. What will she do? How will her friends react? How will her ex-boyfriend react? How will her mum react? How would YOU react? Should Megan keep the baby? In this brilliantly readable story, Megan tries to make sense of something that whichever way she turns, will change her life - for ever.

Amazon Review
Megan finished with her boyfriend, Luke, months ago and is looking forward to the exams being over, going on holiday with her best friend, and freedom. However, in an instant all this changes. In a Personal Development lesson her teacher tells the class: "Of course, it is possible to be pregnant and still have periods." In this moment Megan realises that this means that she could be pregnant--having only missed one period, and this months after she and Luke had done it, she had thought there was nothing to worry about. From the moment Megan realises she could indeed be pregnant, her emotions spiral out of control--how will her friends react? What will happen to her school work, her exams? And, worst of all, what will her mother say?

Mary Hooper treats the difficult subject of teenage pregnancy with sympathy and compassion. For someone who finds herself in the same situation as Megan, the novel is supportive, informative and encouraging in that it calmly portrays the options available, the involvement of the social services and the help available to a teenage mother. However, it in no way glamorises the reality of under-age sex and pregnancy. Megan is a cautionary tale to all teenagers, showing how easy it is for a girl to get pregnant and the consequences for the rest of that girl's life and the difficult decisions she will have to make. (Ages 12 and up)
