Reviews: Charlotte (USA: OK) (2007/03/15):
Jodi Picoult is my new favorite author, as she is with the students at my high school. (I am a librarian.) The only bad thing is that the endings never make me happy. While reading, I had to arm myself with a box of Kleenex. Having a son who had cancer as a child, I could really identify with parts of this book. That's why I had to put it down for awhile before picking it up and finishing it. That said, I loved it.

Erin C (USA: NY) (2007/09/18):
Wow, this book is the most profound book I have read so far. It sucks you in and you fall in love with ALL the characters. Through out this entire story I was in tears. Jodi Picoult knows how to explain the turmoil this family has suffered though in such a way that you feel part of it. She is an exceptional writter, my new favorite, and I can not wait to read all of her books.

esther (USA: KS) (2007/10/02):
Picoult is such a good writer. This is another great one.

k_kay (USA: TN) (2007/10/25):
I started reading this book at 8:00 p.m. on 10/24/2007, i just finished it it is 3:02 a.m. on 10/25/2007. Putting it down longer than five minutes wasn't an option. This story will probably haunt me for years. I cried off and through the entire book. It's a must read.

leyla s (USA: CA) (2008/03/07):
This is one of those books that will haunt you after you have read it. As soon as I finished it, I made all my friends go out and read it so I would have people to discuss this book with! It's amazing how much this book can get people talking! I am usually not a reader of "popular" ficiton writers, but this author may make me think differently. She is a good story-teller and you really get into her characters! At the end of this book I was depressed because I had gotten so involved into their "lives" and the book was done and I couldn't "check" up on them anymore!! This is a MUST read for everyone!!!

ZombiEdward (USA: OH) (2008/03/22):
This book is fantastic. I picked it up on a whim and I'm glad I did. The story just draws you and won't let you put the book down! I'm not one that ever gets emotional or cries over books or movies, but this one was very emotional.

Kim (USA: CA) (2008/04/10):
I did not love this book, it had a very interesting topic so it kept me reading to see what happened but when I was done reading it I was disappointed. I don't want to give anything away so I will stop there.

Brooke Marie (USA: NE) (2008/04/10):
I read this book a few years ago. I absolutely loved it then. I think it depends on where you are at in your life. I think teenagers and parents of teenagers will benefit most from this book. Anyone else, read at your own risk!

azurerocket (USA: UT) (2008/04/20):
Hated it.

Amy (USA: IN) (2008/04/21):
This book is wonderful. You'll laugh & cry. This book really makes you think. What would you do in the parents shoes? I think we all wouldn't hesitate to do whatever it took to save our child but is it always best? Tough decision I don't know, I just felt for the whole family and could understand where they all were coming from. Great thought provoking book.

Jan (Australia) (2008/05/03):
It started off well, tore a fair few tears out of me, but then left me disappointed. Nevertheless it's a good read, but not worth actually buying it (which is what bookmooch is for!)

jbatson (Canada) (2008/07/02):
This is truly an amazing story! Once I started it I was drawn into it. I became part of the book, felt their pain and their anguish. A true masterpiece. This is a MUST READ for any and everyone! My heart is still pouring out over it!

Yaya Marzuki (Indonesia) (2008/08/10):
I have to say..I really engrossed by this book. My heart really goes to the family. Although I'm not yet finished reading it..I feel so mesmerized with the story.

Specially after reading 4 other of her books (The Pact, Nineteen Minutes, Mercy and The Tenth Circle), which dealing with rapes and murders..I think I need a break from those kind of issues. And I feel relieved knowing Jodi Picoult touched a different kind of issues in My Sister's Keeper.

(I practically drop other books in my TBR as I was curious about this book) ^__^

I just finished reading it last night, and I haven't got over the shock after reading the ending. I was too shocked to even cry. In a way, Jodi healed my disappoinment after reading Mercy by giving this kind of ending.

Jodi Picoult..I love you!!!..

Rebecca Banks Lee (USA: TN) (2008/08/14):
AMAZING BOOK!!! One of my favorites. They are releasing this as a movie next year starring Cameron Diaz

Brittany (USA: NY) (2008/08/15):
This book is GREAT! Every page makes you want to continue. Its sad, funny, and surprising all in one. This is the first Jodi Picoult book I ever read and was enough to label me a serious fan of hers. I would recommend this book to anyone

Rita (USA: NJ) (2008/08/17):
Rate: 5/5

My Sister’s Keeper is an excellent book. The characters are amazing and the reader is easily drawn into their emotions. I didn’t cry through-out the book, but I did pour my eyes out at the end (I suppose it was all the accumulated tears).
I highly recommend this book.

hill7 (USA: NY) (2008/10/13):
Loved this book. I fell in love with every charachter for reasons all their own.

-alice- (Mexico) (2008/11/03):
This is a wonderful book on a very difficult subject matter. I almost cried when I read it and thinking about it there's no better ending for the story than the one it has, albeit a sad and maybe shocking one.

The side story is a little bit blah, but with a strong main story with a wonderful protagonist you won't mind about it's minor plot defects.

Carolyn (USA: RI) (2008/12/02):
Anna is the stand-out character of this novel, and it is unfortunate that the novelist switches p.o.v. so much, esp. at the end. I had a hard time sympathizing with the mom...her complete lack of empathy for her daughter's issues with donating an organ seem to come more from having taken on the role of the "savior" and thus some sort of pathological disservice to her other daughter. I think the point for me where I decided the mom totally had lost it was when she backhanded her daughter over the issue. Her use of shame showed her lack of empathy...

Kate I would have liked to see more of. It is unfortunate that the father did not actually follow through, as a character, on understanding Anna's point of view through the trial, even if in the end Anna's reasons were not what they appeared to be, as that would have been a convincing story in of itself.

I was dissapointed with how the novel ended, as the lamb was sacrificed indeed...I think that the issues of morality and kinship would have reverberated more had the plot not taken turns it did at the end.

castleridge (USA: NC) (2008/12/15):
I liked this book - it got me hooked from the beginning. I like how it tells the story from the different vantage points of the characters.

tomato4u (USA: MI) (2009/02/08):
this book is one of the best that i have read in a long time... be sure to keep tissue by ur side

OopsImAwesome (USA: KS) (2009/03/25):
Wow, wow, wow. This book is the REAL DEAL. I've been told of the powers of Jodi Picoult novels and I'm embarrassd to say I was judging a book by its cover. When a friend made a passinate plea for me to read her I caved in and started first with MSK. This is one of the best books I have ever read, so much so that I promptly started reading any Picoult book I could find. I've read 5 of her books in 3 weeks and they are all amazing. This book is haunting and powerful like so few books are. I will never forget ANY of these characters, they are so vivid. The ending was shocking and had me gasping for breath through my tears. Anyone who truly loves reading will be mesmerized by what JP has done with this novel. READ THIS BOOK, you owe it to yourself and you will not be disappointed!

Charles McGarles (USA: PA) (2009/08/21):
Pretty good. Worth reading. An interesting twist at the end... I didn't see that coming. I will say I wasn't as impressed as everyone else seems to be. It wasn't the greatest book I've ever read.

Shari Michl (USA: NE) (2009/09/17):
Loved this book, very touching. Highly recommend

bowpeep (United Kingdom) (2010/04/04):
For me Jodi Picoult books have a strong running trend through all. She chooses to deal with very difficult subject matter that affects you to the core, however I am always disappointed with the way she ties them up in the end.

This book deal with the very modern issue of Stem Cell research, and the suggestion of creating stem cell @persons@ to be donors for Ill people. (Think of the film The Island.

The characters are well crafted, you can see both sides of the Mothers arrangement, and hate yet feel sympathy for her at the same time.

Interesting twists and turns, Character secrets and by stories.

I hated the end of the book. In all honesty she finished it how she wanted it and in a realistic way but it annoyed me deeply. I wouldn't read it again but its a good insight into a difficult subject.

Marianne (Australia) (2011/06/15):
My Sister’s Keeper is Jodi Picoult’s 11th novel. It centres around Anna Fitzgerald who has retained lawyer Campbell Alexander to sue her parents for the right to her own body. Anna was conceived to provide (initially) cord blood for her older sister Kate who has leukaemia. As she has grown up and as Kate’s disease has progressed, more and more has been demanded of Anna’s body for her sister. The story of what happens is told in several voices: Anna’s, her mother Sara’s, her brother Jesse’s, her father Brian’s, her lawyer Campbell’s, and her guardian ad litem, Julia’s. this is a provocative novel that does not shy away from the issues: conceiving a child to save another; who has rights over a minor’s body; is it possible to love a child too much; is it possible to love all one’s children equally; teenage pyromania. As always, Picoult handles the court scenes with finesse, and the final twist makes for a perfect ending. A great read!

twinsfamily (USA: NY) (2014/05/26):
Loved the book, it is a great read and was a tear-jerker

judy (USA: NC) (2015/07/13):
Really liked this book. Sad story but won't go into details as it will ruin story. I liked that each chapter was from a specific characters point of view.
