Carol Dickerson (USA: CO) (2008/06/04): Excellent, excellent. Great story, well written, can't say enough. elizabethphillips (USA: CA) (2010/08/27): Beautifully written. Naslund's writing consciously echoes Melville's and the story intersects with Moby-Dick in some wonderfully unexpected places. Peaceopi (USA: MS) (2011/09/06): Only a most gifted writer, which Sena Jeter Naslund obviously is, could make this boatload of whale poop into a work of art. The woman can write! It's a shame she's so insecure about her ability that she opts for the politically correct rather than the historically accurate. Read this book in the same spirit that you would read any other fairy tale, and you'll be greatly entertained.
