HORRIBLE. What a mess. If you like having to work to read and reading the word 'father' spelled 'fahver' and the word 'breasts' spelled 'bresses' then this is for you. I finished it because it's a slim book but it's hands down the worst book I've ever read.

i did have to accustom myself to the way precious spoke, and then the way she wrote (she cant write or spell early in the book.) but i felt the book was well worth the efforts. i think precious is a wonderful character, who, despite the huge challenges thrown at her, keeps pushing (hence, the title) forward. the book at one point, had me weeping while out in public. i do wish the book were longer, but its not unusual for first novels to be short. now looking forward to the movie.

This book definitely took some getting use to. It is quick read because of the small size but a difficult read due to grammer and spelling. I would give it a 3 out of 5. This is one case that I hope the movie is better than the book.
