Reviews: leyla s (USA: CA) (2008/02/26):
I absolutely LOVED this book! It's in my top 10!! I have come to find that with this book, you either love it or hate it.....there is no in between. But I highly recommend it to all, because I feel that Wally Lamb has done such a good job with this book that when you are reading it you will find it hard to believe that a MAN has written the book. The voice in this book is so feminine that it IS hard to believe that a man wrote the book. I think this is a MUST read for anyone who is interested in a good story!

Joelle (Canada) (2009/02/01):
Loved it, I couldn't put it down!

This is one of my favorite books. My friend recommended it and I could not put it down. The main character is a HOOT! You do not know whether to love her or hate her. It truly was a great book. Highly recommended

Christine (Germany) (2010/09/19):
It was -interesting.
All in all I liked reading it a lot. Willy Lamb covers many important issues in on book. Almost to many. At times it feels like "didn't she have enough? Can't you just leave her alone already?" Although maybe thats what he intended?

Every topic, no matter how disturbing, was handled in a way that made it all feel very real. I was routing for the little girl from the beginning hoping for her to find someone who would help her, love her unconditionally. I was moved by how she found her happy end, but somehow disappointed that the author didn't really make it feel like one. Maybe I just read to many "chick lit" but the happily ever after didn't feel like one!

[spoiler]
It made me happier for her she finally saw the whale (which almost made me cry) than that she finally found a guy.
[spoiler]

I am not sure if I will reread it. Not because its not a good read, but because it makes me see things in a different light and I don't think a second or third time will change that, give me something new.

Erika (USA: ME) (2011/06/13):
I absolutely adored this book. It's heart wrenching and eye openeing and a beautiful read.
