janie (USA: AK) (2008/05/12): Mila is a wild child, raised in the water by dolphins. She knows only the sand, sea, sky, and the touch of the dolphin. She does not like to be alone or kept apart from her adoptive family. But Mila is 'discovered' by kindly people who place her in a room with walls and locks. Mila wants to go back to the music of her 'people' and tries hard to please the doctors who want to help her. And Mila learns other things as well. She learns anger, and mean and hurt. And Mila does not like those things.
Brigitta Rae (USA: UT) (2009/02/27): Loved this book! Read it when I was in jr. high it gave me a love of the ocean. It also excited me to go on adventures and build my own secret hide away from the world, but that's another matter. The characters are very relatable and the story will fill you with emotion (cry, laugh, raise an eye brow-you name it!). Great book for young teens, although also a quick, enjoyable read for adults.
